NEW YORK (EFE) .- The positivity rate in Covid-19 testing plummeted in New York to its lowest level since the beginning of the pandemic, with an average of 0.73% for seven days, as announced by the authorities on Saturday.

So far, the lowest level this indicator had registered in New York State it was 0.75% of a week in August 2020.
Drastic decline
Following the uptick in cases in early 2021, the percentage of positives decreased continuously in recent months, after having reached 8% during January.
One month ago, the positivity rate in New York was 2% and makes two at 3.5%.

Minimum record
“Our numbers have been pointing in the right direction, toreaching a record low since the start of this pandemic, and they continue to do so because of what the people of this state are doing, ”said Governor Andrew Cuomo.
It’s a statement, Cuomo encouraged everyone who has not been vaccinated to do so, underlining that it is the best way to protect the entire population.

Hospitalizations decrease
During the last day, 140,392 Covid-19 tests were reported in New York, of which 870 were positive (representing 0.62%) which brought the average of the last seven days to 0.73%.
Also the number of hospitalizations in the state continues to decline and those admitted to intensive care, which are at their lowest level since October 2020.

Previous source of contagion
New York has been one of the great epicenters of Covid-19 worldwide and accumulates more than 42,000 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to state government data, although other counts speak of more than 52,000.
