New York: Rapper Lil Tjay seriously injured in shooting

Young New York rapper Lil Tjay is currently in critical condition after being shot multiple times during an attempted robbery on Wednesday night, June 22.

According to information reported by the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office to TMZ, the shooting took place at two locations, a Chipotle restaurant and a nearby Exxon gas station shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Indeed, the Edgewater Police Department responded to a 911 call to the address and found a 22-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds. At the Exxon station, officers located another victim of the same age with a gunshot wound. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

According to the media TMZ, the police would have already arrested a few minutes after the incident three men, one of whom would be the shooter. Mohamed Konate, 27, of New York, is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and weapons offenses, while on Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, both of the Bronx , are also for illegal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

Last I heard, the Bronx rapper has undergone major surgery, and his condition is said to be more or less stable at this time.

As a reminder, Lil Tjay made a name for himself in 2018 with his song “Resume”. The rapper has released four EPs and albums, including FN et True 2 Myself in 2019, State of Emergency in 2020 and Destined 2 Win in 2021. Destined 2 Win featured single “Calling My Phone,” Lil Tjay’s collaboration with 6lack, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became his highest-charting song to date.
