The New York Rangers are not interested in the services of Patrick Roy for their vacant head coaching position, it seems.
Monday, the journalist of the daily “New York Post” Mollie Walker affirmed that the Quebecer of 57 years was not summoned for a job interview and that the organization of the Big Apple would not intend to do it. She added that there would be only two candidates, John Hynes and Peter Laviolette.
Roy has just led the Quebec Remparts to their third Memorial Cup victory. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team also won the regular season championship and the playoff championship in its circuit.
The former Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche goaltender is on his second stint at the helm of the Remparts. In between, he led the “Avs” for three seasons, winning the Jack-Adams Trophy in 2013-2014.
