New York Presents Bryant Park Summer Series Summer Season
The Festival reaches its fourth edition with a concert in tribute to the LGTBI community, two operas and a pedagogical gala on this genre

Michael Capasso, CEO of the New York Opera has presented the 4th edition of the lyrical festival that for 4 years has filled the New York park with music. “We are very excited about the return of face-to-face performances in our series of concerts and opera at Bryant Park, a very important part of the programming of the New York City Opera”, Declared the also director of the Festival Bryant Park Summer Series.
The IV edition began on June 18 with a concert in tribute to the LGTBI community as a prelude to Pride month, in which excerpts of operas and musicals were selected for the program, by Jessica Fishenfeld, Lauren Hoffmeier, Melanie Long, Jordan Weatherston Pitts, Brian James Myer y Peter Kendall Clark, and the musical direction of Kathryn Olander.
The lyrical programming continues on Saturday, July 2nd, with the staging of Carmen from Bizet, with choreography by Sarah Doudna, Lisa Chávez in the title role, Jason Karn, Joshua Jeremiah Y Kristin Sampson as co-stars. Kathyrn Olander assumes the musical direction.
Kamal Khan take over from Olander in front of the educational gala ‘Now that’s what I call opera!‘, which features the voices of Lisa Chávez, Kristin Sampson, Victor Starsky Y Adam Cioffari. In the show, scenes from The barber of Seville, Carmen, Rigoletto Y Bohemian (August 21).
Finally, the festival closes its programming with a 90-minute adaptation of the opera Rigoletto from gave, in which they participate Michael Chioldi, Brandie Sutton, Won Whi Choi, Lisa Chávez Y Kevin Short. Constantine Orbelian, new musical director of the New York City Opera, will take the baton in front of the resident orchestra of the theater. Michael Capasso sign the production (September 3).
