No discount for New York Police
Even if the New York Police Department validated the order for the 250 Model 3, Tesla would not grant any reduction. Indeed, the Hertz company had ordered no less than 100,000 Tesla Model 3 at the end of October 2021, and the rental company had not received any reduction. Elon Musk had also made a point of recalling that no contract had for the moment been signed with Hertz for the order, but the news had all the same made explode the share price of the manufacturer.
According to Bloomberg, the New York Police Department has said that electric cars will help them reduce fuel costs, believing thatthey would save about $ 8,500 per car in five years. New York Police are not the first to take an interest in Tesla. Since 2016, the Los Angeles Police Department has also been testing Teslas in its fleet.
Last year, the Fremont, Calif., Police department, where the automaker’s main plant is located, even said the Model S ” met or exceeded expectations, often demonstrating superior performance compared to gasoline-powered police vehicles ».
