New Yorkers placed their first legal online sports betting in the state on Saturday morning, the first day mobile sports betting was permitted in the Empire State.
One player was feeling lucky, putting $ 15 on a six-team football parlay – which will net him $ 1,430.45 if he wins, DraftKings revealed in tweet.
The bet was placed at 9:01 a.m., one minute after four casino operators – Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel and Rush Street Interactive – opened.
Another risky bet was the first bet on the Caesars app, with one user betting $ 20 to win $ 233.16 in five European football matches, the company said in a tweet.
On Rush Street, a fairly confident player placed $ 500 in Saturday’s Chiefs-Broncos game, a company representative said.
And on FanDuel, at 9:01 am, the first bet placed was a bet of $ 21 in the Cowboys-Eagles game.
No data was released by the casino on the amount of money won or lost in sports in New York on Saturday. The state Gaming Commission said it will release data on betting volume on a monthly basis.
There was at least one winner on Saturday: the old one New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who signed on as an ambassador with Caesars Sportsbook.
