New York Pizza wants to open a branch in De Koog this year. The pizza chain will establish itself at Nikadel 9 in De Koog. The condition is that a suitable franchisee reports. There is an open day for this on Friday 10 June.

New York Pizza, founded in 1993, has more than 250 locations in the Netherlands. They are all franchise businesses, as is the intention on Texel.
“The location fully meets our wishes,” says franchise recruiter Ferdinand Molenaar. “New York Pizza, together with the property owner, has developed a great plan for refurbishing the entire facade, giving it a beautiful appearance again.”
“Texel is a great achievement for us, also a milestone. We are the first food chain to establish itself on Texel. Our locations always do well in the vicinity of supermarkets such as Jumbo and Lidl. But what makes it extra attractive, of course, is that the Dorpsstraat and the beach are just around the corner. In addition to the 13,500 islanders, the chain expects a lot from tourism.”
Molenaar sees many possibilities. “But there are also serious challenges. “Seasonal and staff. There is real work to be done. That is why we are looking for the right entrepreneur, preferably someone from the island itself. With local ties, who already have a catering company and can shift staff. That is why we are holding the open day, so that we can spar with people.”
This entrepreneur can fall back on the organization of New York Pizza. “For example, there is a marketing machine behind it, training and guidance and the entrepreneur is financially helped to make the company profitable. Together we are strong.”
New York Pizza rents the property, next to the Friends hotel, from the owner. “We want to set up a great company there. The location is now pretty run down. We have agreed with the owner that the facade will be refurbished and the terrace will be made tidy. This will give it a nice look and this part of De Koog will be refurbished.”
