New York Pizza sold to Norwegian Orkla

New York Pizza, one of the largest pizza chains in our country, is taken over by Orkla. The Norwegian conglomerate takes a 75 percent stake.

The NYP brand is therefore valued in its entirety at 145 million euros.

New York Pizza has a total of 232 points of sale, two of which are in Germany and one in Belgium. At the end of 2020, CEO Philippe Vorst announced that he wanted to grow in the latter country in particular. The ambition is to work towards 300 restaurants in the Netherlands and Belgium within a few years. With its own declared online turnover of more than 100 million euros in 2019, New York Pizza occupies the 26th position in the Twinkle100.

Through the acquisition, Orkla also acquires an interest in Euro Pizza Products, a dough manufacturer that produces more than 20 million kilos of pizza dough annually. A collaboration with Orkla in the production of the NYP reindeer variant (see below) was already a sign for some that the collaboration with Orkla was rather fruitful. This variant also came on the market in the far North. Since its inception, the brand has stood out with disruptive and eye-catching marketing campaigns and actions.
