The director of the Usedom Music Festival, Thomas Hummel, is delighted: “I am overjoyed that the Peenemünde concerts of the Usedom Music Festival with the New York Philharmonic once again send signs of peace and freedom from the historic location. Here, where the National Socialists once built weapons of mass destruction, it is particularly important in these times, in times of war, that we strive for understanding and cohesion.”
The exclusive residence of the New York Philharmonic is an important sign of international understanding in these times. In addition, they stage Usedom as a cultural travel destination, says Tobias Woitendorf, Managing Director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourist Association, about the upcoming event.
