New York pays tribute to its soldiers who fell in combat

Various events are held in the city to pay tribute to those in uniform who have fallen in combat.

As is tradition, the Woodside community in Queens commemorates Memorial Day (Remembrance Day) with an event hosted by American Legion Post 1836, attended by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

For its part, the Intrepid Museum holds its annual Memorial Day ceremony as part of Naval Week.

Both Mayor Adams and members of the Armed Forces are at the Intrepid on Pier 86 today to participate in the 100-foot flag unfurling event.

And after two years of absence due to the pandemic, the Memorial Day Parade in Little Neck, Douglaston returns. It is an event established in 1927, described by its organizers as the largest Memorial Day Parade in the country.
