NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – After severe criticism of delays in coronavirus test results, New York has opened its own municipal laboratory. The facility in Manhattan is specially designed for residents of the metropolis and should help to reduce the waiting time for a test result to a maximum of 48 hours, said Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday. The capacity of the laboratory is to be gradually increased from currently around 3,000 to 20,000 coronavirus tests per day by November.
