Only one COVID-19 death has been reported in New York State in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest one-day death rate since the outbreak began.

– It is not only a rhetorical figure – it is reality. Only one New Yorker has died, and we won’t stop until that score is zero. When you look at what is happening all over the country and the world, it is truly a remarkable achievement to the credit of New Yorkers. I congratulate them in this way – said Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday (September 22).
Out of 58,319 tests for the virus performed statewide on Sunday, 573 were positive, or 0.98 percent. A total of 450,473 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been registered in New York State since the outbreak began in March.
Cuomo said 468 patients diagnosed with COVID-19, 38 of them newly admitted, had been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. There were 134 people in intensive care units, 63 people are connected to ventilators. A total of 25,428 fatalities have been registered since the outbreak began.
– I would like to thank the New Yorkers for their extraordinary attitude. The spirit of community, the spirit of unity, and the efforts they make have saved literally thousands of lives. You protect the health not only of you and your families, but of all New Yorkers, ”the governor emphasized.
Meanwhile, over the past 24 hours, according to ABC News, there has been an increase in the number of infections in 29 states, as well as in the Washington DC and Puerto Rico.
In 17 US states, Washington and Puerto Rico also reported an increase in hospitalizations. In 16 states and Puerto Rico, the number of recorded deaths was higher than the day before.
