New York, Moscow, Beijing … the 10 cities with the most billionaires

The richest 1% of the planet would gain more wealth than 90% of the world’s population, or 6.9 billion people. This is what the NGO Oxfam denounces in its annual report on inequalities, published in February 2020. And this chasm between the haves and the have-nots seems to widen over the years. According to a Wealth-X study dated June 30, 2020, the number of billionaires increased by 8.5% in 2019, reaching a total of 2,825 people.

The statistics agency also released data on the distribution of these ultra-rich across the world, by country and city. According to this study, the United States is home to the most billionaires (788) ahead of China (342 ), Germany (153) and Russia (114). France only arrives in 10th position with 60 billionaires. Several American and Chinese cities thus appear in the top 10 cities with the most ultra-rich.

The study was carried out “on the basis of comprehensive data on wealth in the world”, reports Business Insider US. To establish this new data, Wealth-X “analyzed the evolution of the global billionaire population in 2019”. Here are the 10 cities with the most billionaires around the world.
