New York Mayor: There is no place in the city for immigrants

New York Mayor Eric Adams headed to El Paso, a city on the border with Mexico, on Sunday and declared that there was “no room in New York” for busloads of immigrants being sent to America’s most populous city.

Adams, a member of the Democratic Party, criticized the administration of US Democratic President Joe Biden, saying, “Now is the time for the national government to perform its duties,” regarding the migrant crisis on America’s southern border.

No New York mayor has ever visited a southern border city for the immigrant cause.

Busloads of immigrants were shipped in and headed north to New York and other cities by Republican-run states. This exacerbated New York’s housing crisis and the city’s homeless crisis.

Adams’ visit to El Paso comes after he said an influx of immigrants to New York could cost the city up to $2 billion, at a time when the city is already facing a huge budget shortfall.

In recent months, the Republican governors of Florida and Texas have sent thousands of migrants seeking safe haven in the United States to cities run by Democratic politicians, including New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C.
