A somewhat unexpected job offer has been posted by the City of New York, but it is a very serious one.
When NYC City Hall offers a job, it doesn’t go with the back of the spoon. Last Wednesday a rather unusual announcement was published by the American city for the discovery of the rare pearl.
Director of Rodent Control
Indeed, she seeks a “bloodthirsty killer” ready to do anything to eradicate the rats from the city. Mayor Eric Adams arranged this job offer by offering the successful candidate an annual salary between $120,000 to $170,000 annually, as reported by the New York Times.

This announcement to find the candidate who will fill this new position of “director of rat extermination” still requires conditions.
Council is looking for someone with a license, five to eight years of relevant experience and, “most importantly, the drive, determination and killer instinct needed to fight the real enemy: New York City’s relentless rat population.”
Defeat the rat army
The candidate must possess “a swashbuckling attitude, shrewd humor and hardened character” to defeat the army of rats, described as “cunning, voracious and prolific”.
This assignment will be a “24/7 job that requires stamina and organization.”
