New York markets open with rises

The New York markets opened today in positive territory and its main index, the Dow Jones Industrials, advanced 0.44% to settle at 35,046.14 points.

Likewise, the selective S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq technology index operated with increases of 0.46% and 0.88% respectively, according to the Bloomberg agency.

Despite the increases, the New York stock markets aim to close the week with negative results, due to the losses generated from the minutes of the US Federal Reserve (FED) that would indicate a withdrawal of monetary stimulus sooner than expected.

Concern about the movements of the monetary entity, in an economy that could still be affected by the Delta variant of Covid-19, caused various investors to sell their stock and commodity papers and, instead, buy debt bonds.

The technology companies, including Microsoft (+ 2.47%) and the chip producer Nvidia (+ 2.85%), led the day, although the latter was affected today: its purchase of the British semiconductor designer ARM will be investigated by the UK competition authorities.

Instead, shares in Chinese companies are falling, as companies like Tencent and Alibaba lost more than 7% of their value this week alone.
