NEW YORK – A 32-year-old Dutchess County man allegedly stabbed three of his neighbors during an argument, killing one of them before taking his own life, authorities say.
It’s unclear what sparked the dispute Wednesday at 11 p.m. on Walnut Drive, but the victims appear to be all from the same family.
William McGoorty, 35, died at the scene, while Robert and Edward McGoorty, 30 and 58, were taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where they are fighting for their lives, the Dutchess County Sheriff said.
The alleged killer, Willem Salcius, 32, took his own life at the scene.
Sheriff’s office investigators say Salcius knew his neighbors, although the motive for the stabbings remains under investigation.
