New York man pushed onto subway tracks dies

A 61-year-old man died in New York on Sunday after being pushed under a subway train by a stranger, police said, who released a video of the suspect.

The drama took place in the Bronx, as the victim, identified as Wai Kuen Kwok, waited for the D subway at the 167th Street station with his wife to travel to Chinatown in Manhattan.

The stranger pushed him back on the tracks as a metro arrived in the station shortly before 9:00 am, under the horrified eyes of his wife.

The two apparently did not know each other and had not argued.

Police released video of the alleged murderer who then left by bus. The video shows a man wearing a dark jacket getting off a bus, and smoking a cigarette on a sidewalk.

A reward of $ 2,000 was offered for any information that would help advance the investigation.

Each year, dozens of people die in a New York subway (accident or suicide), but this is the first time since December 2012 that a person has been killed after being pushed from the platform.

In December 2012, two people died after being pushed onto the rails.

A woman pushed an Indian immigrant on the rails on December 28 in the Queens neighborhood, and on December 3 a man was pushed from a dock in Manhattan after an argument with a tramp. At the time, the New York Post daily caused a scandal by publishing in the front page the photo of this man hanging on the platform, as the subway arrived.
