A man has been shot dead in broad daylight in New York City amid a shocking wave of violent crime.
The victim, identified as Angel Barreiro, 20, was sitting in his car in the Bronx shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday when she was approached by another man who shot four times through the window.
Barreiro was struck in the chest and died shortly after in hospital. The suspect is still at large.

It was one of four shootings that took place in the Big Apple on Thursday, as gun violence raged in the city.
In the Bronx, two other men in their twenties were shot and wounded. Another non-fatal shooting took place in Brooklyn.
Five people were shot dead in New York on Wednesday.
Official NYPD data shows shootings increased 123% in October compared to last year.

“It’s not what we on the ground would call ‘a spike in crime,’ former NYPD crime analyst Christopher Herrmann told Insider last week.
“We are in unknown waters”.
While NYPD statistics show murder rates for the month of October are down 2% from the same month last year, the overall homicide rate for 2020 is up 37%.
Other crime cases also remained stubbornly high in November.
Assaults increased 2 percent, burglaries increased 32 percent and major auto theft crimes increased 79 percent.
