The New York Knicks achieved their third consecutive victory in NBA basketball in the States, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 117-108 on Saturday, January 15.
RJ Barrett for the Knicks scored 26 points and Julius Randle added 24. The Knicks improved to a 22-21 record. They hadn’t broken the .500 mark since Dec. 2. New York has won five of six games but began the night in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.
Trae Young led Atlanta with 29 points, while Dario Gallinari added 17. The Hawks have lost five in a row and nine of 11, falling to 17-26. Atlanta started the night in 2nd place in the East.
The Hawks, who eliminated New York in the quarterfinals of last year’s playoffs and advanced to the conference finals, have lost 10 straight as hosts.
Lou Williams made a basket to pull Atlanta within four with 8:35 remaining, and Williams hit a 3-pointer to make it 93-91 a minute later. But the Hawks couldn’t get any closer.
