The New York Knicks will strengthen themselves for the upcoming season with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The forward, who was last active with the Dallas Mavericks, signs for a year.
This is what Bobby Marks reports from ESPN. Kidd-Gilchrist played for the Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks last season, but only played an average of 11 minutes, during which he put up 2.4 points and 2.7 rebounds.
The former No. 2 pick (behind his former Kentucky teammate Anthony Davis) is considered a defensive specialist for the wing, but he has no throw. Nevertheless, MKG should see a few minutes for the curtsy on the wing, as offensive specialists are primarily at work in the big forward positions with Julius Randle and draft pick Obi Toppin.
Kidd-Gilchrist spent most of his career in Charlotte, where he was an integral part of the rotation for years. In his prime, MKG scored 9.1 points per game at 47.7 percent from the field, but hit just 19.4 percent of his threesomes.
