The New York Knicks will have to go without Mitchell Robinson for at least a month. The center fractured his right hand and needs an operation.
This is what Adrian Wojnarowski reports from ESPN. Robinson sustained the injury in the success of the Knicks on Saturday night against Washington. The Big Man will now be absent between four and six weeks.
Without Robinson, according to Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, mainly Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson will get the minutes on the five, but Thibs is also considering the smaller Julius Randle and rookie Obi Toppin.
Robinson had been the starter in all 27 games so far and put on an average of 8.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 28.8 minutes. The Knicks have a contract option for the center for 1.8 million dollars, but that would make the 22-year-old an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
