The New York Knicks are said to have filed a lawsuit against the Toronto Raptors because a new employee of the Canadian team allegedly brought with him exclusive information about the organization.
According to the daily New York Postthe names of former Knicks employee Ikechukwu Azotam, as well as new Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic and their player development instructor Noah Lewis are included in the lawsuit.

In a statement sent to the New York media, the Knicks said Azotam had “illegally taken thousands of proprietary files” to help the Raptors. The NBA team claims that these were able to help Rajakovic in his preparation, he who will be in his first season at the helm in Toronto.
“These records include confidential information like frequency of play reports, a 2022-23 season prep book, scouting videos and more. Due to this clear violation of our employment agreement, criminal and civil justice, we had no choice but to take this action,” the Big Apple team explained.
Also according to the lawsuit, Azotam sent documents to his home address from his Knicks email, before forwarding them to the Raptors.
The Knicks believe that the records that have been stolen from them allow them to “maintain a competitive advantage over their rivals, including the Raptors”.
The Toronto team responded to the accusations by assuring that an internal investigation would be launched and that it would cooperate fully. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Group (MLSE), however, said it was not made aware of a lawsuit, but did receive a letter of complaint from the Knicks on Thursday.
“The company strongly denies any involvement in the alleged matters. MLSE and the Toronto Raptors will not comment on the matter until it is resolved to the satisfaction of both parties,” a statement read.
Ikechukwu Azotam was signed to the Raptors this past offseason.
