The New York Knickerbockers landed a surprising 110-99 win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night. While six players from the Big Apple scored double-digit points, Carmelo Anthony disappointed the guests.

- Despite the return of Damian Lillard, who missed Thursday’s victory over the Philadelphia 76ers with an abdominal muscle, the Blazers lost at Madison Square Garden. Dame convinced with 29 points (10/20 FG, 6/12 3FG), and Gary Trent Jr. added 19 points. Overall, however, the guests met just under 42 percent from the field.
- Sixth Man Carmelo Anthony in particular disappointed with just 2 points in 18 minutes of play. Melo only hit one of his eight litters. He is still twelve points short of Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson from 12th place in the best NBA scorer in history.
- The Knicks had their best throwers in Julius Randle (22 points, 11 rebounds) and Elfrid Payton (22 and 7), six players scored double-digit points. The Knicks took command after half-time when they turned a 51:51 into a 61:51.
- Despite the planned rebuild, the Knicks in the east are on course for the playoffs. Head coach Tom Thibodeu does not want to be influenced by this: “Our focus is on improving day by day. That was the case before the season and that has not changed.”
- The weakened Blazers, who were still missing CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic, were disappointed by the bankruptcy, but Lillard could live with a balanced record on the 6-game away trip given the difficult personnel situation: “Of course we would like a 4- Made it 2, but considering the circumstances 3-3 is okay. With another win it would have been a great trip. ”
