New York Kindergarten Pre-K and 3k Programs Enrollment 2024-2025 – Regardless of Immigration Status

If your child was born in 2020 or 2021, it is time to enroll them in New York Kindergarten’s Pre-K and 3k programs, regardless of their immigration status.

3-K programs offer free, full-day, high-quality early childhood education for children who were born in 2021 and will turn 3 this year.

From January 10 to March 1, registration for the 2024 – 2025 cycle will be open.

This program includes all children who are in an early learning program, minors with disabilities, minors who are still learning English, and those whose parents live in a foster home.

According to the City’s education site, children do not need to be toilet trained to enter.

The Pre – K program offers free education for children who were born in 2020 and who will turn 4 years old this current year.

Like 3-k children, they can register from today until next March 1st.

In both cases, the City makes available the number 718-935-2009 where they can resolve any questions about the process.

The operators of this number speak Spanish.

Immigrants without documents can apply

All New York City children have the right to a public school education, regardless of their immigration status, says the Department of Education.

That is, by law, students cannot be required to present documentation regarding their immigration status nor can they be denied admission, enrollment, or enrollment in a public school due to their immigration status.

Families do not need to provide proof of citizenship or immigration status to register.

Additionally, staff will not be able to ask about the family’s immigration status, and if this becomes known they will have to maintain confidentiality.
