Good news for fans of crime series: New York, judicial police finds its way back to the studios. Dick Wolf, the creator, and Rick Eid, the showrunner, will once again be at the helm of what will be the 21st season, recounting the investigators’ investigations and the pleadings of the New York attorney’s office.
NBC had stopped the series eleven and a half years ago and has just given the green light, as Deadline indicates. On the casting side, nothing has been stopped for the moment. Sam Waterston, who played the prosecutor Jack McCoy, could nevertheless find his chair, just like S. Epatha Merkerson who played the role of Lieutenant Anita Van Buren.
An endless franchise
And New York, judicial police had stopped, the series has given rise to countless spin-offs, starting with New York, special unit, with Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, as Inspectors Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler. The comedian left in 2011 at the end of season 12, and this year joined the cast of New York, organized crime, another derivative series centered around his character.
The franchise has also crossed borders with London, judicial police, but also Paris, criminal investigations. The latter, with Vincent Pérez in the role of Commander Revel, lasted three seasons between 2007 and 2008.
