Thanks to a 6-2 win in the sixth play-off game, the New York Islanders are in the semifinals – now you have defending champion Tampa in front of your chest.
The New York Islanders have qualified as the third team for the play-off semifinals of the North American professional ice hockey league NHL. They defeated the Boston Bruins 6: 2 at home and thus achieved the decisive fourth win in the “best of seven” series to make the final 4: 2.
The preliminary decision in game six fell in the second period when the Islanders pulled away with three goals between the 26th and 37th minute to 4-1. When Boston threw everything forward in the closing stages and acted without a goalie, Cal Clutterbuck and Ryan Pulock hit the empty goal within eleven seconds.
Now, as in the previous year, the team of coach Barry Despite will face a duel with defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. For their part, the Islanders have been waiting to win the Stanley Cup since 1983. The Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights are still fighting for the last open semifinal place in the West Division. After five games, the Las Vegas team leads 3-2. The Montreal Canadiens are waiting for the winner in the semifinals.
