New York Islanders | Brock Nelson could miss up to a month

(New York) Brock Nelson, who leads the Islanders with 11 points, including nine goals, will miss two to four weeks with a lower-body injury, the New York club announced on Tuesday.

Nelson was injured Sunday when he collided with Jake Muzzin in a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Nelson has played the Islanders’ last 316 games, dating back to March 2017.

The Islanders have also signed defenseman Zdeno Chara to COVID-19 protocol.

The veteran has had two assists in 15 games this season.

Chara gave 33 hits, the highest among Islanders defensemen. He also blocked 15 shots.

Josh Bailey, Kiefer Bellows, Andy Greene, Ross Johnston, Anders Lee and Adam Pelech are also in the pandemic protocol.

The Islanders have lost six straight games, including their first two at the brand new UBS Arena.

They will play again Wednesday at home, against the New York Rangers.
