New York institutes will resume face-to-face classes on March 22

New York, Mar 8 (EFE) .- The institutes of New York City, where classes are taught for students between 15 and 18 years of age, will resume face-to-face classes on March 22, after the last weeks high school students will resume in-person education, announced Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The authorities have explained that around half of the 488 public institutes in the city will offer all their classes in person, while the rest will maintain a mixed education, imparting part of the training electronically.
Likewise, sports activities in these schools will resume from April.
However, in-person education only affects the 55,000 students who registered last fall for face-to-face classes, which were suspended in November coinciding with a new wave of COVID-19 infections.
In total, the city’s public institutes host some 282,000 students, most of whom chose this course for distance education.
On February 25, the city also resumed classroom education for students between the ages of 6 and 8.
This reopening will coincide with a change in the direction of the city’s Department of Education, whose reins will be taken over from March 15 by Meisha Porter, who takes over from Richard Carranza.
As the city approaches its first anniversary of imposing drastic measures to contain the pandemic, a slow reactivation of various activities has begun.
In addition to the progressive return of classroom training, the interior of the restaurants has opened with a reduced capacity and the rooms that offer live performances may also reopen with a 33% capacity on April 2, among other measures.
