At his press conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio took a moment to recall how important it is to keep New York City’s public education safe.
He emphasized that the COVID vaccine will hit the city as early as next week.
In the same way, he pointed out that there is still a great battle to fight, which consists of continuing to carry out the coronavirus tests during the winter season.
During his participation in the press conference, the head of the Tracking Brigades, Ted Long, explained that the sites have been intensified to carry out medical tests and obtain immediate results.
This initiative has allowed the inauguration of 10 rapid test sites during the past month and another 20 such sites are planned to open in the coming weeks.
Including a rapid test site at LaGuardia Airport starting December 10.
He called on New Yorkers to take the exam on this Tuesday of tests, with the initiative Get Tested Tuesday, in specific places like:
- Washington Heights
- Harlem y East Harlem
- Chinatown
- Lower East Side

Regarding the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:
- Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 161 (47%)
- Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants, average of 7 days: 2.30
- COVID-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 2,624
- Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 4.94%
