NEW YORK – The three-state area is experiencing another day of rare high temperatures for the season.
And it’s that the New York region hit record highs in mid-November. Temperatures rose rapidly on Monday morning, with many feeling the 70s as early as 9am.
All-time highs were beaten at JFK Airport reaching 77 degrees exceeding 73 in 2022. Newark Airport reached 79 degrees exceeding 78 in 1938 and Bridgport, Connecticut, reaching 78 degrees exceeding 69 in 2020 Our Authority in Time clarifies that all records are preliminary.
Monday follows a series of warmer-than-usual days in the area. The runners felt particularly heat and humidity on Sunday during the annual New York marathon.
The Weather Authority notes that mid-term election day will be dry and cold, but in reality it is just a return to the average. Temperatures begin to rise again at the weekend.
When does the cold arrive?
While most of the work week will be pleasant, temperatures are expected to drop to 20 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a cold front approaching the region. In these days the temperatures will be between 56 and 58 degrees with lows up to 39 degrees. For Friday and Saturday, rains are expected and from there more temperatures of the season.
