DJ Kay Slay, one of New York City’s hip hop legends as a graffiti artist, DJ, producer and radio host, has died at age 55 after a long battle with COVID-19.
In a statement released through HOT97, where he worked, the legendary entertainer’s family confirmed his death over the weekend.
Kay Slay, whose birth name is Keith Grayson, was an integral part of the city’s musical and artistic culture for nearly four decades. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Nas and Busta Rhymes.
He had reportedly been sick with COVID since late last year and had been recovering in a hospital before his passing.
