New York Governor’s First Debate – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – NBC 4 New York/WNBC, Telemundo 47/WNJU and Times Union announced plans for the first scheduled televised debate with the leading Democratic Party candidates for Governor of New York.

The governor’s debate is scheduled for Thursday, June 16 at 7 pm, two days before early voting begins.

The event will take place at WNBC’s 30 Rockefeller Center studios in Manhattan and will be broadcast on WNBC and WNJU’s over-the-air and digital platforms.

Panel moderators will include our sister network WNBC’s 4 pm and 11 pm news anchor David Ushery, WNBC political reporter Melissa Russo, morning news and public affairs anchor “Focus New York” of Telemundo 47, Allan Villafana, and Casey Seiler, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Times Union.

Co-sponsors of the debate include the New York Urban League (NYUL), the Hispanic Federation (HF), and the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF).

Invitations have been extended to Governor Kathy Hochul, Congressman Thomas Suozzi and New York City Public Defender Jumaane Williams.

The broadcast of the debate will include sign language interpreters and access to closed captioning for the hearing impaired. It will also be translated into Spanish for audiences on WNJU, Telemundo 47.
