After an investigation confirmed allegations of sexual harassment, New York Governor Cuomo is now threatened with criminal proceedings. Politicians from both parties had previously called for his resignation – including US President Biden.

After an official investigation found Andrew Cuomo guilty of the sexual harassment of several women, the governor of New York now faces criminal penalties. At least three regional attorneys’ offices in New York State, Manhattan, Westchester County, and Albany Counties requested evidence from Attorney General Letitia James.

In addition, the Chairman of the New York House of Representatives, Carl Heastie, has announced that Cuomo will be impeached quickly. According to experts, it will take several weeks before this could start.

“Climate of Fear”

Previously, an investigation led by Attorney General James found that Cuomo had sexually molested former and current employees of the state authorities. Among other things, there were unwanted touches, kisses, hugs and inappropriate comments.

In addition, the governor, who has been in office since 2011, has created a “hostile working atmosphere” and a “climate of fear” for women, according to the 168-page investigation report published on Tuesday. Numerous prominent politicians from both parties then called for Cuomo’s resignation – including US President Joe Biden. Cuomo rejected the allegations via video message and initially did not address a resignation.
