NEW YORK, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) – Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York State, again criticized the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccination plan on Monday, calling it “flawed” and expressing concern that some disadvantaged communities may be denied the opportunity to be vaccinated in a timely manner.
“They are going to take this vaccine and they are going to go through the private mechanism: through hospitals, through drug market chains, etc. It will be slow and it will bypass the communities that we call health care deserts”, a- he said.
“Why do we have such a disparity in infection rate and death rate from COVID? Because some communities do not have the same access to health care,” the governor told Good Morning America on the channel national television station ABC.
“The Trump administration has denied COVID, so they were never ready for it. There was no government mobilization,” he added.
The governor also said he has spoken to other governors across the country about how to shape the Trump administration’s vaccination plan “to fix it or stop it before it causes damage.”
Over the past few months, Cuomo has repeatedly criticized the federal government’s vaccination effort and said it has flaws. The National Association of Governors, which he chairs, has sent letters to the Trump administration asking for an explanation or an improvement in his plan.
