Both women worked for the governor. One of them, 25-year-old Charlotte Bennett, tells the newspaper that she received all kinds of sexual and personal questions from her boss last fall. For example, he asked her if she thought age made a difference in relationships, and had said he was open to relationships with women in their 20s, she interpreted those comments as clear rapprochement with a sexual relationship.
Cuomo told the paper that he believed he had acted as a mentor and “never made advances to Ms. Bennett, nor did I ever intend to act in a way that was inappropriate. ” He said he had requested an independent investigation of the case and asked New Yorkers to await the findings “before passing judgment.”
Bennett’s account follows another detailed allegation published Wednesday by Lindsey Boylan, a former state economic development officer. She accused Cuomo of harassing her on several occasions from 2016 to 2018, giving her an unsolicited kiss on the lips at one point in his office.
Cuomo received an Emmy Founders Award last fall for his efforts during the corona crisis. He was awarded for his ‘effective communication and leadership’ during his daily briefings, which were shown on television.
