New York gets a new subway line in Manhattan

New York starts 2017 with a first novelty: a metro line opened on December 31 at noon. The Q line passes under Central Park and continues in a straight line under Second Avenue, serving the eastern Upper East Side (see map above).
It had been almost 100 years since a subway line of several stations had been created in New York! The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, was amused by it in a tweet: “The Second Avenue subway line is now open, because in New York, we never give up, even if that took us 100 years ”.

Convenient for visiting the Upper East Side

The “new line” is in fact an extension of the Q line, which connected Midtown to Coney Island.
The extension under Second Avenue will therefore facilitate your journeys if your hotel is located on the Upper East Side. And if your hotel is in Times Square, in Midtown, or in lower Manhattan, the new Q line will allow you to reach the Upper East Side even more quickly. Convenient for visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum or taking a ride on the Roosevelt Island cable car.
