According to police, a 29-year-old man drove a pickup truck on a bike path in Manhattan on Tuesday and hit numerous pedestrians and cyclists. Then he crashed into a school bus. When he escaped from the car, security forces shot and arrested him. According to US media reports, the investigators found a message in which the man stated that he had committed the crime on behalf of the terrorist organization “Islamic State”.
According to investigators, the suspect immigrated from Uzbekistan seven years ago. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirsiyoyev wrote a letter of condolence to US President Donald Trump that his country would use all resources to help with the investigation.
