New York Film Festival Announces Main Slate, Including Cannes Winners

The festival’s main slate will include a dozen films from this year’s Cannes Film Festival, including several winners

The New York Film Festival’s main slate of films will include nearly three dozen films from a lineup of international directors including Justine Triet, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Alice Rohrwacher, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, Aki Kaurismaki, Wim Wenders, Yorgos Lathimos and Jonathan Glazer. Film at Lincoln Center announced the lineup Tuesday morning.

Among the 32 films are three special presentations that NYFF had previously announced. The opening film will be “May December” by Todd Haynes, its centerpiece will be “Priscilla” by Sofia Coppola and its closing film will be “Ferrari” by Michael Mann.

The rest of Main Slate’s lineup includes 12 films that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year, including winners ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ by Triet, ‘The Zone of Interest’ by Glazer, ‘About Dry Grasses” from Ceylan, “Perfect Days” from Wenders and “Fallen Leaves” from Kaurismaki.

Other films include director Radu Jude’s ‘Don’t Expect Too Much from the End of the World’, Hamaguchi’s ‘Evil Does Not Exist’, Agnieszka Holland’s ‘Green Border’ and two films by Hong Sangsoo, ‘In Our Day” and “In the water”.

The festival will take place September 29 through October 15 at Lincoln Center and other venues across New York City. Additional movies in the Currents, Revivals, Spotlight, and Talks sections will be announced in the coming weeks.
