Today, October 13th, at 9.10 p.m. you can watch the touching film about the Hungarian Jewess as a TV premiere on the new BILD live broadcaster.

The 36-minute film tells the dramatic fate of the 91-year-old contemporary witness – of her deportation as a 14-year-old Hungarian Jew to the Auschwitz concentration camp and her forced labor. For BILD’s in-house production, the BILD reporters traveled to the original locations in Galanta, Érsekújvár, Auschwitz, Peterswaldau and finally to Jerusalem, where Sheindi Miller-Ehrenwald has lived since 1949. Here she gave her interview to the authors and reads from the original recordings herself.

The actors Iris Berben (71), Christian Berkel (63) and Lea van Acken (22) tell the story of the Jew in “Sheindi’s Diary”.

Iris Berben: “The fact that this film received this award testifies to a very sensitive jury, which made itself very aware of the treasure that these diary entries made. We must not stop at all, even through artistic means, not to let the connection with our past break. Our present and future are fed by our past. We should be able to handle it and that’s why it’s important and nice that this documentation gets such an award. “

Christian Berkel: “We have to listen to these people while they are still alive. Your fate must never be forgotten. This is another reason why this price is so important. “
