The New York Fashion Week (New York Fashion Week) opened this Friday with an unusual event: the first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, called for the protection of “freedoms” during a pro-vote march with several well-known designers such as Thom Browne, Michael Kors y Tory Burch.

The march, organized in a park in Manhattan by the Fashion Association of America (CFDA) on the first day of spring-summer 2025 fashion weekofficially presented itself as “nonpartisan,” but Jill Biden, whose presence was not announced, appeared to set an electoral tone with a speech.

“I know you care about the freedom to make your own choices, to be who you are, to love who you love, your freedom of creative expression. Those freedoms are threatened by court decisions, the banning of liberties, by the apathetic shrugging of shoulders when people forget the power of the vote,” said Jill Biden, applauded by a thousand workers in the fashion industry.

“Don’t forget that the next president, your next president will likely appoint new Supreme Court justices, your future senators will confirm them, and our children and grandchildren will have to live with the consequences of those decisions,” the first lady said.
