NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The first trading day in the new year brought profits to the US stock exchanges at the beginning. But in the first half an hour on Monday, the price gains crumbled completely and the indices showed no direction. The good mood in Europe could not lastingly affect investors on the other side of the Atlantic.
Der Dow Jones Industrial In early trading, after a brief dip in the red, it barely changed with a plus of 0.09 percent to 36,370.25 points. On the penultimate trading day of 2021, however, it had reached a record high of just under 36,680 points.
The S&P 500 , which had also set a record last Thursday, now rose by 0.05 percent to 4768.28 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.06 percent to 16,307.82 points.
