New York (AP) – Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who is in custody, will face further charges.

US media reported on Monday, citing court documents, that the indictment against the 59-year-old was expanded to include a fourth victim. The allegations revolve around sex trafficking with a minor between 2001 and 2004.

Maxwell was arrested in New Hampshire, USA, last July. At that time, in the case of three girls, she was accused of, among other things, seduction into illegal sex acts and perjury between 1994 and 1997. Maxwell had denied aid in court and pleaded “not guilty”. The entrepreneur Epstein, who has since died, is said to have abused dozens of minors and forced them into prostitution.

Maxwell has been in a prison in Brooklyn, New York, since last summer. Several applications for release on bail were denied, among other things because of the risk of escape. The trial against her is due to begin in July.

Maxwell’s ex-partner Epstein escaped federal proceedings in 2008 by entering into an agreement with the prosecutor. He then pleaded partially guilty and received a mild prison sentence. In 2019 he was charged again in New York and shortly afterwards, according to official information, he committed suicide in a prison cell.
