New York is under no illusions. The city is preparing for the epidemic peak of Covid-19 and it is the soldiers of the US Air Force who are preparing a morgue under a tent, in front of horrified residents. The city, which has half of the 70,000 U.S. cases, has become the epicenter of the coronavirus in the United States. In an intensive care unit, an emergency doctor filmed her daily life. “It’s getting worse and worse”, she explains.
An epidemic peak expected in 14 days
In the street, the queues in the rain are punctuated by coughs, those of New Yorkers who have come to be tested. State Governor Andrew Cuomo has sounded the alarm: “The peak of the epidemic will be with us in 14 days, we need ventilators by then.” If New York is a potential bomb, it is first of all because of its density of 12 million inhabitants, even if gatherings are prohibited.
