‘New York Empires’, the tycoons who made the American dream wild

Movistar + premieres in # 0 on January 21 a documentary series that travels the city that never sleeps on the back of the five tycoons who changed their rules in the eighties: Ivan Boesky, Donald Trump, John Gotti, Leona Helmsley and Rudy Juliani.

In six episodes that will air every Thursday night, the chapters will focus on the figure of five New Yorkers who changed the path to the city that never sleeps: Donald Trump, the current outgoing president of the United States and real estate mogul; Ivan Boesky, a true wolf of Wall Street; Leona Helmsley, the owner of the most important luxury hotels in the city; Rudy Juliani, the prosecutor who became mayor of New York; and the head of the Gambino crime family John Gotti.

Although the most famous paths begin for all in a Big Apple destabilized by a debt of thirteen billion dollars and a high crime rate that coincides with the arrival of President Ronald Reagan, their paths will trace very different paths. All five reached high levels of success and power throughout the eighties, until what was known as “Black Monday”, when markets crashed around the world and allegations of foul play began.

The documentary series covers all these milestones and the crimes they had to face at the end of this stage: tax evasion, fraud, extortion, illegal gambling …

New York Empires’ will also be available in low demand service.
