New York city residents elect a new mayor on November 2nd. Democratic candidate Eric Adams, current Brooklyn District President, has been a favorite since winning the June Democratic primary. Adams is a former police officer, has a vegan diet and meditates regularly. He would be the second African American to hold office. Adams faces up against Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels private security initiative and former Conservative radio host. In the city of New York, around 3.5 million voters are registered as Democrats and 500,000 as Republicans. The outcome of the election seems obvious.
