This is Sam Bird which won in the inaugural race in 21017, then at DS Virgin Racing, started from 4th place on the starting grid. The Briton, starting from pole position the next day, had to defend himself against Daniel Abbot, then Jean-Eric Vergne in the final laps to score a second straight victory on the streets of Big Apple.
During the following season, Lucas di Grassi beat his teammate, Daniel Abbot to win in the first race, the next day, it’s Jean-Eric Vergne who ensured victory and secured his first Formula E championship title. During the last Formula E visit to New York for the 2018/2019 season, Sebastien buemi (Nissan e.dams) and Robin Frijns (Envision Virgin Racing) shared the victories.
