New York driver fatally hits a pedestrian street in Queens

A pedestrian was shot and killed by the driver of a car as he attempted to cross a street in Queens on Friday night, police said.

The 64-year-old was shot near the intersection of Seagirt Avenue and 30th Street Beach in Far Rockaway around 6:50 p.m., officers said.

A 26-year-old man driving a black Jeep Wrangler was heading east on Seagirt Avenue when he ran over the man, who police say was trying to cross the street in the middle of the block.

The 64-year-old was shot at around 6.50pm last night.

The pedestrian suffered severe physical trauma and was transported by first responders to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver remained at the scene. Police said investigations are ongoing.
