The US photographer Diane Arbus, who died 50 years ago, is honored with a statue in New York’s Central Park. The work of British artist Gillian Wearing can be seen at the southeast entrance of the park in Manhattan. Shortly after the approximately life-size bronze statue was erected, and a camera hanging around its neck is holding it with its hands, people passing by began to photograph the statue or put an arm around its shoulder. Born in New York in 1923, Arbus is one of the most important photographers of the 20th century. The installation should be on view until August 2022. (swisstxt)
