New York Department of Motor Vehicles warns of texting scams – Telemundo New York (47)

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has warned residents of a text message scam in which criminals attempt to obtain personal information.

Anyone who receives a suspicious text message from the DMV should delete it immediately. The agency asks that you do not open the attached link and that you do not provide personal information under any circumstances.

The message asks recipients to update their contact information by clicking on a link to comply with the new regulations.

If you think you have been the victim of a scam, contact the Office of Consumer Protection and Fraud at 1-800-771-7755. As well you can submit a complaint online.
